Flush-mount Installation

    Vernon Manufacturing

       Automatic Water Salesman

VERNON MANUFACTURING RECOMMENDS THAT A QUALIFIED TECHNICIAN PERFORM THIS WORK.  PLEASE FOLLOW ALL FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL CODES REGARDING ELECTRICAL AND PLUMBING iNSTALLATION.  USE A DEDICATED CIRCUIT AND SURGE PROTECTION.

Since each installation is different, mounting hardware is not furnished and the following are general instructions only.  Your application will dictate the hardware needed.  We recommend using ½” carriage bolts, washers, and nuts to mount the Flush-mount System to your wall.  Some cities mount the plate on the inside, creating a recess.  Be sure to allow extra space inside.  An awning, or similar cover over the unit, will help keep out moisture and keep customers dry.

An 18” x 18” opening is required,  The 24” x 24” aluminum plate has four ½” mounting holes on 22½” centers.  Measure and drill the mounting holes in your wall and mount the assembly.

Install the valve in your water line either horizontal or vertical.  Flow direction is marked.  Protect it from freezing.  A gate valve (not furnished) mounted ahead of the water valve aids in cleaning and repair.

PLEASE NOTE:  Valve port #4 must be open to air—DO NOT PLUG THIS HOLE.

As of 8.1.2020, except for ground, all ASCO Control Solenoid wires are red.  Lengthen as needed, crimp on the forked wire ends, and bring them to terminal strip positions #6 and #7.  Refer to the sticker.

Remember:  There is no positive or negative to these wires.  Either wire to either position.

Automatic Drain:  If so equipped, tie both solenoids in parallel and follow the preceding step.

Verify the green ground wires are tied under a bolt on the valve.

Key Switch Override:  If so equipped, city personnel can obtain water without having to use money.  Simply insert the key and turn.  It is labeled “CITY USE ONLY”.

Choice Switch:  If so equipped, bring one wire from one valve to position #6 on the terminal strip, and one wire from the other valve to position #8.  Tie all the neutral wires together and bring only one wire into position #7.  If each valve has an Automatic Drain, follow the instructions shown above.

NOTE:  If your machine is equipped with two timers for different size valves, all wires and terminal positions are tagged.

Except for power wires to the valve, no other internal wiring is necessary.  Refer to all wiring stickers.

To set the timer to deliver the amount of water you want to sell, follow the HRV Timer Settings sheet.
