Dollar/Coin/Card Installation

    Vernon Manufacturing

       Automatic Water Salesman

VERNON MANUFACTURING RECOMMENDS THAT A QUALIFIED TECHNICIAN PERFORM THIS WORK.  ALL MACHINES SHOULD BE INSTALLED USING A DEDICATED CIRCUIT AND SURGE PROTECTION IN ACCORDANCE WITH ALL FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL BUILDING CODES.  CHANGES IN WIRING OR OBVIOUS SHORTING WILL VOID WARRANTY.

If this unit is installed in a Streetside Box, please follow those instructions.

Since each installation is different, mounting hardware is not furnished and the following are general instructions only.  Your application will dictate the parameters and hardware needed.  We recommend using ½” carriage bolts, washers and nuts for mounting the Flush-mount System to your wall.  Please follow local codes for any electrical or plumbing installations.  An awning, or similar cover over the unit, will help keep out moisture.

An 18” wide by 22” high opening is required.  If your unit accepts credit cards, be sure to allow enough room for the stub mount antenna.  The 24” x 24” aluminum plate has four ½” mounting holes on 22½” centers.  Measure and drill the mounting holes in your wall and mount the assembly.

Install the valve in your water line either horizontal or vertical.  It is marked for direction of flow.  Protect it from freezing.  A gate valve (not furnished) mounted ahead of the water valve aids in cleaning and repair.  Install the piping, valves, drains, back flow preventers and other devices in accordance with local codes.  PLEASE NOTE:  The open hole under the diaphragm must be open to air—DO NOT PLUG THIS HOLE.

Bring the wires from the solenoid valve in to the control box through the ½” connector used for the incoming power.  Connect them to the corresponding black (#6) and red (#7) positions on the terminal strip according to the wiring sticker.  Use the empty forked connectors already on the terminal strip.

Key Switch Override:  If so equipped, city personnel can obtain water without having to use money.  Simply insert the key and turn.  It is labeled “CITY USE ONLY”.

Automatic Drain:  If so equipped, tie both solenoids in parallel and follow the valve installation instructions shown above.  Secure the green ground wires from the solenoid(s) under a bolt on the valve.

Choice Switch:  If so equipped, bring the black wires from the different valves in to the designated positions on the power strip.  At the valves, tie all red (neutral) wires together and bring only one wire to the labeled power strip position.  NOTE:  Some machines are equipped with two timers for different size valves.  Bring the valve wires in to the indicated terminal position.

Except for the wires to the valve(s), no other internal wiring is necessary.

To set the timer to deliver the amount of water you want to sell, follow the instructions on the Timer Settings sheet.
